Espresso Martini Recipe
There are a myriad of espresso martini recipes from the original espresso martini classic. All things being equal the team at Farrer’s decided that we wanted to give the home cocktail enthusiast an opportunity to create a simple, yet stunning version of an espresso martini made with a Nespresso® machine. We’ve crafted an espresso martini recipe with Farrer’s Nespresso® compatible* coffee capsules.
Simply pick the Farrer’s coffee you want to brew and follow the simple instructions below. Shake to your hearts content but definitely don’t stir and you will be able to serve up the perfect Espresso Martini like a true pro in the comfort of your own home.
How to make an Espresso Martini with Coffee Pods
What you’ll need:
- Nespresso® machine
- Farrer’s Nespresso® Compatible* Coffee Pods
- Cocktail Shaker
- Ice cubes
- Martini Glass
- Coffee cup
30ml Kahlua Coffee Liquor
3 Whole coffee beans
TL;DR – MIX IT UP
Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with the coffee beans.
Step by Step Espresso Martini recipe
Step 1: It’s all in the preparation.
You’ve heard the saying the early bird gets the worm, well it’s the same with this baby, extract your coffee beforehand and let it chill man! That’ll help to minimize the dilution, make your drink colder and really wow your taste buds!
Step 2: Shake it baby!
Add the vodka, coffee liquor and espresso along with some ice cubes to your cocktail shaker. Remember you need to bring this drink to life so shake for all your worth. It’ll mix the drink properly and give you a great frothy foam too.
Step 3: Take the strain…
When straining pour the drink quickly through from the shaker straight into a chilled Martini glass. It all helps with creating a beautiful foam on top of Martini.
Step 4: To finish…
For added effect, garnish with a few whole coffee beans into the glass to really wow your guests!

Where was espresso martini invented?
Espresso Martini is a cocktail with a story… a bit of a legend you might say… invented by bartender Dick Bradsell, whilst working at Fred’s Club, in London.
Fred’s was where is was at in the 80’s and Dick was at the heart of it all crafting more classic cocktails than any other bartender alive… a fitting legacy to this master of his art. One such fitting epitaph is the Espresso Martini…
The magic apparently happened when a top British super model asked Dick to create something for her that would “Wake me up, and then f@$* me up.” The rest is history…
