5 Classic Cocktail & Mocktail Recipes for Christmas

Espresso Shrub Martini:

Serves two.

Cocktail Ingredients:

  • Crushed Ice
  • 30ml vodka
  • 50ml strong black coffee or espresso, or use instant espresso powder
  • 4 coffee beans to garnish

Shrub Ingredients:

  • 50 ml freshly brewed espresso
  • 50g golden caster sugar
  • 50g balsamic vinegar

Method:

  1. To make the coffee shrub, pour the espresso into a jug with the golden caster sugar. Stir to dissolve, then leave the mixture to cool completely before adding the balsamic vinegar. Place in the fridge and chill overnight.
  2. To assemble the cocktail, put two martini glasses in the fridge to cool.
  3. Half-fill a cocktail shaker with crushed ice, then add 50ml of the coffee shrub, 30ml vodka and the 50ml espresso coffee. Then shake really well, until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels cold to the touch, then strain into the chilled glasses. Top each with several coffee beans.

Classic Irish Coffee:

Serves one.

Ingredients:

  • 30ml Jameson’s Irish whiskey
  • 15ml Brandy
  • 120ml Freshly brewed coffee
  • 15ml Brown sugar syrup
  • Cold whipped cream
  • Grated chocolate to garnish

Method:

  1. Warm a glass with some pre-boiler water (this keeps your drink warmer for longer).
  2. Add the freshly brewed coffee and the sugar syrup and stir to combine.
  3. Then add the Irish whiskey and brandy.
  4. Add some coffee (if you are making an Irish Coffee at home you may need to add the coffee granules and some boiling water too).
  5. Whisk the cream in a bowl. (be careful not to over whisk otherwise you won’t be able to pour it).
  6. Turn a spoon upside down and place the tip of the spoon inside the glass just on top of the coffee making sure that the edge of the spoon is touching the glass. slowly pour the whipped cream over the spoon.
  7. Dust the cream with chocolate and enjoy.

  

Black Russian:

Serves one.

Ingredients:

  • 50ml vodka
  • 20ml Kahlúa coffee liqueur
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 Luxardo Maraschino cherry
  • 300ml chilled cola for topping up the glass

Method:

  1. Add the vodka and coffee to a whisky tumbler filled with ice and stir gently for up to a minute.
  2. Top up the glass with the chilled cola and garnish with the Luxardo Maraschino cherry, serve.

 

On The Wagon Green Jasmine & Ginger Tea:

Ingredients:

  • 10g Loose Leaf Farrer’s Green Jasmine Tea
  • 10g frozen mixed berries
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise pod
  • 2 slices of ginger
  • Orange slice
  • 1000ml freshly boiled water (75 - 80°c)

Method:

  1. Put the jasmine tea and frozen berries into a large teapot. Add the ginger, orange slice, cinnamon stick, star anise and cloves. Add the freshly boiled water to the teapot.
  2. Let it infuse for between 1-3 mins, then strain into teacups and serve.

 

iced mocha recipe

Iced Mocha:

Serves one.

Ingredients:

  • 150ml full fat milk
  • 25g dark chocolate buttons
  • Ice cubes
  • 35ml freshly brewed espresso coffee (allow to cool)
  • 30ml whipped double cream
  • Grated chocolate to garnish

Method:

  1. Add approx. 50ml of the milk to a small pan on a low heat, then add the chocolate buttons and stir until they dissolve and then leave to cool.
  2. Half-fill a high ball glass with ice cubes and then pour the cooled chocolate milk into the glass over the ice and pour in the 100ml of previously reserved milk and stir together.
  3. Add more ice then add the freshly brewed but cooled espresso.
  4. Top with whipped cream and the grated chocolate and serve.
